Well, I remeber in college the ideal company to work for, at least in my mind was Google or possible Apple, but now that I have grown up and met people who have worked for these companies, I'm starting to think these aren't the dream jobs everyone makes them out to be.
Like every corporation, we have been hit with politics and red tape. It just took awhile to get there and have been masked with high pay and great benefits along the way.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great place to work, but the disillusion is setting in.

For me, I like to think of dream "resume builders" and dream "income generators"... as most people don't dream of working. In that light, I do think FAANG / MAMAA (whatever we're calling it these days) does stand out for the tech industry.
Google (Cloud division) and LinkedIn seem pretty cool for roles in my space.
For other industries, I've heard:
• Disney (animation studio)
• McKinsey / Bain / BCG (consulting)
• Exxon Mobil (petrochemical)
• Boston Scientific / Medtronic (med. equip.)
• NASA / Boeing (kidding on that second one, but: (aerospace))
• BlackRock / A16Z / Carlyle Group / Sequoia (all killer PE firms, some in VC too)
• Nike / Patagonia (apparel)
• just google (oh look!, hehe) the rest of the industries and "best company" in ____ to find more!
However, I love the idea of entrepreneurship. So... building my own thing is getting more tempting (I'm late twenties). I think I need several more years in industry to excel; but we'll see.
Netflix pays the best so I say there
For a place to work? My current company (not kidding). I’ve been here a decade ands have no plan or desire to go elsewhere. And my role is a customer/partner facing one, so it’s not from ignorance of the way things could be if I went elsewhere. We have solid pay, good benefits, great coworkers, work that matters, and an excellent culture.
Dream company to work with? That’s a harder question. Some talk beautifully but don’t move well, others jump in quickly but miss details. Some stab you in the back first chance they get. If I had to pick favorites to work with they’d probably be Amazon and RedHat (though we’ll see how the second goes over time as part of IBM). Both are action focused but usually try to help solve the problem you need solving rather than just to sell you their product.
