I have been on the boat just a short few years ago. I didn’t want to work for a paycheck for the rest of my life but I have a family to take care too. But thankfully we were able to start an online business with the mentorship of some very successful people. I still work full time in a job, but knowing that it’s temporary gives me a peace of mind.
I have been on this path throughout my career and it’s like you are reading my receipts.
But yes I have and at times it’s needed.
Especially for the right reasons and justifications as you do as no you wouldn’t want to deplete all your savings.
The answer that matters ultimately is yours.
I have always had an entrepreneur spirit and I’ve always worked 80–100 hours (not promoting this btw) for someone else to get the results they wanted and it was very taxating but it was necessary to provide for the family.
I was a marketing executive who got laid off who waited 6 months for a similar opportunity but during that time I worked 3 jobs twice. No pride. No ego. I was the best stalker when I worked. I was the best janitor when I worked. I was the best customer service rep when I worked because all were needed to keep us afloat. So I can empathize and understand!
I guess the question to think about is, do you feel it in your bones or does something point to or promise you a job you actually want or a client in X amount of time?
If you think it’s not possible or cutting it too close when it comes to that interval a time, taking a job you hate may be an option.
But let’s reframe it. Words have power. It impacts how you think and therefore your thoughts towards the job which will reflect in your actions.
Ask yourself what does this make possible?
For one, if not for anything else, financial stability. This doesn’t taking this job will mean you will be there forever.
What can I learn? Maybe pick up a new skill or introduced to a industry or expand my network in the future.
Our destinations aren’t straight lines and so even you decide it’s necessary to take this job, it’s still making progress towards your goal. You deducted I need to maintain positive cash flow and may not be able to afford waiting it longer as the risk for the family may be too high. Take it if you feel it necessary with the mindset I will maximize this experience as I in due time will encounter another.
What’s meant for you will be for you.
Hopefully this was of value and to those who stumble across this answer later as well.
Cheers
