What is one of the "wildest" recruiting emails you've gotten from a recruiter? What made it the "wildest"?

Way #1, you get wild emails like this one.

The first time I lateraled, my initial recruiter ghosted me after talking me into doing an interview while I had Covid (which I bombed). She recently reached out to touch base to see if I was interested in exploring options.

Well, are you 😌

Just kidding

The ones where they frame it like you dropped the ball on responding to something to get your attention are criminal.

I used to practice myself, and I would absolutely never send something like this. Thank you for the clarity and honesty

I don't think I've had any very interesting ones, most of them are just for jobs that are in completely unrelated industries that have nothing to do with me and waste my time. I guess I would say that that's pretty wild 😆

This can be frustrating, for sure

Not an email but had one call me on my
work phone in the middle
of a work day. Took me by surprise at the boldness.

like

Lucky to not be an associate when there were only phones

I’m getting ones basically asking me to do their job with referrals. Same person 4 days apart…

They are literally asking for you to reply, asking for references it’s just a workaround if they can’t fully reach out to people at that firm/group etc.

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? I’ve never been in a position to bargain my starting salary so this is all very new to me.

Next week I’m having my first lateral interview as a junior associate. Masters only patent agent in life sciences, worked in house for 2 years as a paralegal, patent agent for one year now. What should I expect for salary in NYC boutique/big law ?

How do find a recruiter in the legal field? Have been looking for a job for a year now and trying to transition into another practice area. Applied to more than 20 jobs and still no offers. I feel like I might need some help.
Also, I have no idea how these arrangements work. Do you pay the recruiter to look for the jobs or do you pay them when you get the job? Or does the employer pay them?
