In tech companies they play different roles, managers manage people while TL/TLMs are technical experts. Not sure what you mean by more prestigious.
Bowl Leader
It's not uncommon for ICs to earn more than their immediate managers. But the management track has a much higher ceiling, if you've got the chops for that.

Tech lead is commonly exactly what it is, the technical expert on a product/team. They sometimes report to a manager, pm, or the like. Prestige is all subjective and to one's preference. Sometimes, I find myself wanting to stay technical and go become Principal Engineer at Amazon/Google, other days I want to stop developing full stop haha
Manager in consulting basically translates to a senior developer/ analyst role client side, you're still a technician. If you're lucky you'll manage a team, but you'll still be quite hands on.
Tech lead = a Senior Specialist who manages a team of Specialists.
Analyst / Developer / Specialist - all are synonyms in the Industry.
