I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?

I was laid off, and I am now trying to pick up freelance while also on unemployment. Last week I made roughly double my UE benefits from a freelance job.

Recently got a contract job at Facebook NY. I’ve mostly only been a FTE for the entirety of my career, so a bit nervous as I want to eventually be offered FT but feeling a lot of pressure to perform for the next 5 months to prove my worth. My accounting edge finance is not compatible with the new Mac OS. I do not need the $15/month subscription they offering as an upgrade since I’m a lone freelancer. I’ve come to a point where I just started at the green dot on my laptop camera when talking. I want to do the Errol Morris interrotron to get some sort of connection. The lack of eye contact or staring off to the side from other participants makes me think they have high anxiety or on the spectrum like rain man.
