Oof. I’ve had a few doozies. Honestly surprised I survived a couple of them. I won’t get into specifics, but they all have one thing in common - diarrhea of the mouth. When in doubt, just shut the f up.
I advocated for myself. The powers that be didn’t like that even though I won them for several years in a row.
Not a woman. I think there were a few factors. The popularity contest. Leadership wanting to elevate (and validate) their own hires. They were all cleared out eventually, but not before they pushed me out.
I was at an agency that did work in a highly regulated space and had an extremely strict policy against gifting our clients anything. Even something as small as a coffee was not allowed. We had an intern on staff who was a bit of a liability since Day 1, and nearing the end of his internship he sent our main client a massive gift basket as a thank you. Like, valued at somewhere around $1000, which we later learned came from his wealthy parents. Nothing crazy happened that I know of, the client was understanding, we just obviously didn’t bring him on FT after that. If it had been a salaried employee then there would have been a termination for sure.
So many mistakes. I sometimes feel like I only learn from making terrible mistakes.
I jumped on the wrong grenade. A client started a meeting arguing the brief, so I 1) showed him his printed brief where he’d given the direction we started from, and asked what I’d misinterpreted, and 2) suggested presenting creative when he disagreed with the brief was a bad idea.
I thought I was taking accountability for the disconnect t, avoiding spin and protecting the creatives from getting reamed out for my mistake. The client thought I was mocking him, and forcing him to either admit I was right or blow a week or more of the timeline.
That was my last day on that account.

Ooof. Sounds like a bad client as well.
Sigh always budget things. Whether it’s Typos/misunderstanding rates/formula errors etc having to go back to clients and say ur team was wrong is never fun
