What is your go-to way to translate finance results to non-finance leaders? I’ve found analogies and storytelling works best.

No acronyms and no jargon. Tie the result to what matters most to them, increased efficiency, cost savings, etc.

So true

It's good think about basic questions, like why does this matter, and what are the numbers that show it worked. If you can address that, and present some numbers are that concise and make a strong point, you will have accomplished a lot. Too often, where people go wrong is that they present numbers in a way that's just confusing.

Good point

I agree with SFA1. Most smart leaders understand the numbers, but could get lost in all the jargon.

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.

I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately.
