What makes a candidate memorable after an interview? Sometimes two candidates have the same background, but one just sticks in the hiring manager mind. what actually makes someone stand out after the call? personality fit?

There can be hard to quantify qualities that just make someone stand out. It could be their demeanor and their speaking voice. It could be that they seem to possess a sharp mind and an engaging wit. It could just be, to use Tom Wolfe's phrase, that they have the right stuff. It can be instinctive, and sometimes you just know it when you see it.

True, I think we feel it after the interview

I definitely think confidence plays a big factor. If one person walks in with swagger and a great attitude, they're going to stick out more than the nervous, fidgety candidate.

So true!!

Candidates that demonstrate that they are really engaged in their practice and are enthusiastic. This is demonstrated to me, on paper, by a level of legal detail which is not just recitation of deal work or parts of litigation. Citing statues and regulatory schemes. In interviews, remember what interested you and, preferably, excited you about the kind of work you do and communicate that

Interviewing at a dream company, and right from the first interview the recruiter told me we are way off on salary expectations. This was a little bit expected, as the role is requiring a few years less experience than I have and also in a much cheaper market. They already told me the salary range during this first call, but wondering if they like me enough and I get an offer, how I might approach negotiating for more. I would be making much less than I do now, but it is a dream company.

Hi, been stuck in the contract analysis/review cycle. I have asked a few recruiters how to make a lateral move into in-house. They told me to focus on contract management, which I have been doing for the past year. Now that I have, are there any sites besides “jobscan” that I can use to make sure my resume fits the job descriptions? Does anybody know any recruiters that could help me, as well?
