Hi, I am new to Canada and currently living in Vancouver, BC. I was looking for opportunities in the Financial Services industry in the Metro Vancouver Area. I have about 3 years of experience in the Banking/Financial Services and HealthTech industry and worked alongside IBM and PwC in developing and implementing cutting-edge FinTech products for business clients of a Financial Institution and led the Finance and data science team at a Health tech startup. Let me know if anyone can help me.
There seems to be quite a few people in here looking to join a startup.
We're a mature aerospace impact startup (in Switzerland) pre launch for a new platform to engage and empower passangers in order to accelerate sustainability in aviation. Our product website is www.adaption.me and company website is www.optimaero .ai.
If you're interested in joining us, and you think you have skills that suit our business, you could drop me a speculative application by email at hello@OptimAero.ai.
Does anybody enjoy taking depositions?

In today’s economy, many people have gaps in their résumés, most for events beyond their control. Businesses close, or RIF employees, or merge, etc. Family members get sick—one of my cousins was out of the workforce for eight months providing full-time care to his wife as she died. My company, at least, recognizes this reality. We may ask about gaps, but really when we evaluate an applicant we are looking for skills and fit. And we know that if the fit is right, we can train the skills. Put the dates of the certs on your résumé so recruiters can see that you worked on upskilling during the gap.
I don't know it's something I'd worry about up front - the market is very tough right now and it's likely not the gap.
As another poster noted - since COVID, gaps are more common generally. If it was me; I would just be prepared to answer it in an interview. Life happens and the pandemic taught us that jobs are important, but family and health can't be replaced.
My advice is to lean into your network, networking events or some way that you can get in front of people or HR people - they often have a better read on the market, and insights into off-market jobs or contacts that can help you find what you're looking for.
Good luck, you got this!
