Value realization should flow from trusted channels and individuals-- it's the only way to earn true "buy in". Change Management teams, then, arm these individuals and channels with the means, materials, and "know how" to facilitate change whilst seeing value in the change. So, in terms of relationship, value realization is fostered with the help of proper change management.
The value realization is that OCM is BS.
So every time we can’t explicitly quantify the value of something it is BS?
This does sound like a Prosci question, but change management is ultimately designed to help decrease the time it takes during a transition to reach/ maximize the amount of benefits the organizational will achieve. That being said, change management is a fairly new/ growing field that is not well understood (even by many change practitioners). Just like with any effort, it all depends on how good the strategy and plan is (on paper and in execution).
Change management is a support role so there is no obvious link to value realization. Any link you do find would likely be a correlation at best. More broadly, I think some of the skepticism comes from the fact that it’s so new (Kotter created “change management” in the 90’s). I’m interested if anyone on this app has met an OCM practitioner with P/L responsibility, I have not.
OP's question is really what is change management because their comments all show they don't understand. Common enough. First, a role's function as support or anything else depends on your business model. For example, in tech consulting customers pay you for implementation. Many people think that's the system implementation, but really your client pays you to make a change and make everything work. If you have a bunch of engineers but no one knows there needs to be a new op model and no one is trained to use the system youve failed the client. From a P/L perspective every management role is a change management role. CEO, COO, EVPs, etc. There are roles that only do change, like strategy or m&a... so change isn't the support. Literally, the role of change management is get s**t done and make it work, whatever it takes.
Prosci has stuff on their website that answers this
KPMG what is your definition of value realization? That term is used differently depending on the environment, but if you can define what you're looking to achieve that would help us answer you
Try this information from PROSCI: https://www.prosci.com/blog/yes-you-can-quantify-change-managements-value
This reads like a multi-layered interview question or a lengthy college discussion board question. What’s your objective? It might help narrow your focus.

I’m looking to understand how people think about that relationship. There’s no ulterior motive.
