I joined EY in January. Had no work all of January, but was busy for February and some of March. I have been unassigned for about 4 weeks now, sending availability emails to all of the service lines we are allowed to reach out to for work. I recently got a job in public accounting firm (coming from industry). How do I improve my speed when doing clients’ work? I’m generally pretty careful and trying to find out some stuff before asking manager, but I know couple of my coworkers don’t really spend that much time and let managers figure them out.

At what point do you folks just give up on working through an excel problem? I swear I could have saved time adding everything individually, but it would be a blow to my excel ego.

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

Has anyone heard or know about a firm called HCTV? Any feedback about this firm?
