Speed comes with time and experience. As you keep working on that client, that time will come when you’d run with it. Don’t beat yourself too much. Don’t sit on a task for too long. It is best to ask. Two things I would say are,
1. When you are given a task, ask questions or try and repeat whatever the task is to your manager to confirm you understand it.
2. Don’t spin your wheels by trying to figure out everything. Your manager has been in the job for a long time and might provide you with a quick answer to your questions. Also, do not throw out questions to your manager, example - don’t go saying, how do I do this XYZ? Say, I was working on XYZ and this is my thought process, I wanted to run it by you to check if it is right or if there’s a better way to go about it. Your manager will see you as someone putting in effort rather than being spoon-fed.
I hope this helps. I wish you the best. You got it.

“Just let managers figure it out” is a solid way to get negative reviews and holdback your promos
Make sure to take notes. As a rule, questions are expected but it’s asking the same questions/making the same errors that usually result in issues. Ask questions to learn not only the answer but how to approach similar questions going forward. Things move quickly in PA and usually by a year in you are helping others - so your notes from PY can be a big help. I agree above with not spinning your wheels but also don’t be afraid to Google things. Obviously that doesn’t work for client questions but things like excel formulas, trying to find a confirm contact, etc - you can do a quick search and then confirm info with your team as opposed to just asking what to do.
Very relatable. Switched service lines and as a newbie this is exactly what I feel. Asking would help but don't want to come off as "dumb" so try to figure out things on my own. But after 6 months or so it will get better. You will be able to judge when and what you can ask. Have patience, you got this.
