What will be the primary growth drivers in ‘25?

Looking like defense contracting will be hot.

Private prisons

uplifting

Not only that, but I’d expect a lot of agricultural contracts since prison labor is oftentimes allowed to be used for little to no compensation paid to the inmates.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the deportation process either takes 12-24 months, or occurs after a prison sentence is served so they can contract the labor out for a longer period of time.

A few states, including Texas, are allowed to use inmate labor while providing no compensation, and it’s backed up by the 13th amendment which bans slavery/involuntary servitude unless used as punishment for a crime.

Energy. Also, if he is able to get more drilling going and oil/gas prices decrease even just a little bit, it will have a ripple effect. Pretty much everything you buy has some sort of transportation aspect to it to get it on the shelves. We shall see though.

helpful

If prices decrease you do not drill. Rig count for drilling is directly correlated to oil price.

Not supermarkets, if voters get what they wanted

I’m putting money into nuclear, it’s the long play but if nuclear gets deregulated and can actually make more plants to supply power for AI it will be big in the future. I have a friend who is a former nuclear engineer, currently a financial advisor who agrees

They need to create a plan on storing the used fuel though

Three job interviews with a company, last one creating a marketing plan and presenting to marketing VP. I received good feedback from him. Three days later recruiter wants to give me a call and “give an update”. Schedules it after 2 days. This morning cancels last minute as they are having “internal discussions”. I’m really annoyed and tired. Thoughts?

Curious what others think about this: a friend of mine has a couple of months of leave this fall to study for the CPA exam (they’ll be paid a reduced salary during their leave), but they mentioned they have no intention of studying for the exam, and instead plan to use that time to look for another job. This rubs me the wrong way, but wanted to hear what others think…

Jumped from public to a job in a place run by boomers but I just wanted out of public so I took the first offer that came to me. 5 months in and I realized it's not a good fit at all. Mainly the CFO thinks no one should be working from home, and working from anywhere but the office is considered a day off to him. Is this a good reason to apply for other jobs right now?

I’m an auditor who recently made the switch to advisory. When I was in audit, I could predict my schedule. I knew when I’d be busy (i.e. during busy season or interim) so I didn’t make plans during those weeks or those weekends. In advisory, my schedule has become less predictable. Twice now, I’ve been told about last minute deadlines that have forced me to work over a weekend and late into the evenings, interfering with prior plans I had made. Is this normal in advisory?
