It depends. Just know you can always leave after. Also, government work isn't always less stress. Only if you coworkers are not toxic. Politics and toxicity can run rampant, as can discrimination in government environments. But again, you can always leave if it isn't what you expect. I'm always for exploring.
Gotcha. It completely makes sense and I 100% know your pain. I just don't want you to leave one devil for another or worse devil with the assumption that government work would be less stressful. It would be frustrating to make less and be in yet another place you'd want to leave. I'm sure you'll make the best decision for you. I left b4 to go into industry government contracting and was frustrated. I hit a pay ceiling, had the gold handcuff clearance, but the work was simple and the government leaders were ignorant with less skills than me but looked down upon me. Ignorant fools with big titles. I also met a lot of toxic people who treated folk like trash, played relentless politics, etc. I met more bad folk than good, did more useless work that had no value than substance. So I returned to consulting to get more experiences and shift my skillset. I'm happy that I did. Not everyone will have my experience, but I like to warn people, especially those with really good skills and drive before going into government work.
For me personally, I have a passion for state and local government so I would take it. How much less pay? And if you feel the reduced stress is worth it then I say so go it. It depends on what is most important to you! Good luck!
Yes I am, good luck on your pivot also!
How much less ??
In that case you are well off! Good luck :)
How are the benefits and job security?
Great benefits and loan repayment program. Pretty stable job security with the state
If it’s truly less stress sounds like you’ll be happier it may be worth your time. Stress is a hidden disease that slowly eats away at us mind, body and spirit.
