What's a common engineering "rule" you disagree with or break often? For me, its that everything needs to be fully constrained in CAD - I like some flexibility during iteration.

"Document everything" was a phrase that was drilled into me over and over again. However, sometimes I don't feel it's necessary, especially for simple fixes. Maybe that's just me being lazy, but I'll be lazy if it saves me time sometimes.
