Good to know. Thank you for your help.
Where are you located? And are you getting your CPA license? What is your experience in? We need more details.
Raises and pay are higher in public accounting. In private industry, you don't really get much of a raise hardly ever. It's a good idea to get your CPA license while in public accounting and then hop for a higher salary later knowing that there will be less pay growth but more work life balance
I would say between 70-80k but I guess how much of a raise did you get? Normal is 3-6% I would say depending on a lot of factors. Normally annual raises are not that amazing unless it’s a promotion year but it compounds over time. In reality you are likely doing the same work you were as a new hire so depending on what you received/ expected you may need to level set your expectations.
I think you and your colleagues are overestimating what a first year raise should be.
Just out of curiosity, what did you think it would be and what did you get? That will help
And a 3% raise after one year on a new hire is perfectly normal and acceptable and in line. Don’t fret
