What’s a normal procedure for sick pay? As I was off for a week a few weeks ago with a doctor’s sick note and I’ve just seen now that I did not get paid for it!

Depends on your company policies and your employment agreement. No one else can tell you that. What does your employee handbook say?

Not only employment agreement but also state/provincial laws for salaried positions should be looked at as well.

How long have you been working there? It may take a while for benefits to kick in.

Did you read your company handbook? If you’re salary and you have available sick leave, then you should be paid. If you’re hourly then you wouldn’t be paid.

Have to check with your company policy. Each company is going to have their own policy when it comes to being sick for a week.

A week is an awfully long time to be out sick. Can you explain why you took so much time off?

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.
