What’s everyone’s read on the job market this year so far? I had a recruiter tell me Q1 was the strongest start they’d seen in years in terms of hiring, but honestly that doesn’t fully line up with what I’m seeing around me. In my own circle and even in this community, it still feels like a lot of people are looking for months and not getting much traction. So I’m curious whether others feel like things have actually improved, or if it just depends a lot on location, function, or level.

Hearing the same. Just started to deep dive. I've completed 100 aps with no feedback. 5 AI phone screens which is weird. Recent MBA grad so my assumptions are being challenged

like

Yeah, that’s rough, especially as a recent MBA grad when you probably expected the process to feel a bit more straightforward. Also curious, how have the AI phone screens been? They seem to be popping up more and more, but still feel a little strange to me.

Been looking for four years. Interviews have picked up so far this year but still no offer. Employers want unicorns. I interviewed for a job I’ve done, was told they’d decide quickly and a month later, they’re still interviewing.

like

It is. I’m tired. I’ve always been a top performer so it’s bizarre to not even get interviews. I’ve learned from reading comments though that most of the jobs don’t even exist. They’re posted to data mine candidates and to make companies appear more profitable than they are. Wells Fargo, for example, posts jobs constantly but they also work with over 12 staffing firms hiring below wage contractors. They have layoffs every year. It’s all a game of card and mirrors.

I’d say good. I’ve noticed I’ve been getting way more recruiter messages on LI… also could very well be regional.

I’m not feeling much of a change. I’ve applied to jobs and still not heard anything back. However, I’ve noticed at my own company, we’re hiring a lot of contractors, so I’m starting to wonder if this is where the opportunity is and companies are shifting away from as many FTE

Its very difficult this year. My son looked for a year. He finally got accepted as a full-time contractor through a recruiter. Hopefully after 1 yr he will be offered a full-time position. He graduated last year and worked in Healthcare part time, four hours a day, three days a week. Not enough to move out on his own.

Did anyone noticed the same job postings are listed on indeed, ziprecruiters, Monsters, etc? Question to any Federal Employees who were in the RIF since 09/2025. How would you feel about working for the Federal Government again,? Yay/Nay? Just curious.

I’m quitting my job tomorrow morning. I don’t have a new job lined up. I’m scared, but also excited? I’ve felt under utilized for months, and haven’t had a promotion after two years. I never take risks like this, but life is too short. Is this a bad choice?

So recently my SO has been accusing me of being in control of when we are intimate (sex and cuddling). She says that every time she wants to I say no - and whenever I want to - she says yes. So it's by default doing whatever I want when I want. It's a gross exaggeration of what's happening - but does anyone ever deal with something like this? How do you say no to something like that - without your partner thinking you're just looking out for yourself or you're controlling?

Salam, Ramadan Mubarak! Anyone trying to maintain some level of strength training during Ramadan? I know it’s ideal to lift after iftar (maybe after dates/water + magrib and before dinner) but wonder if it is doable to squeeze in a 30-40 min training session right before iftar (for time saving purposes)?

Anyone ever have experience negotiating a new offer to include unvested 401k match and stock grants from your current employer? I hate leaving money on the table but there are some good roles out there. I’m not fully vested in my current 401k yet and my stock grants haven’t matured yet either. This would be at a global director level.
