I have not been on a project for over 3 months. Since I joined, I have been put in training. The training got extended by a month and now it's close to 4 months since I joined and without a project.

What should I do? People say that I'm lucky to get paid without doing any work, but it is stressing me out. I need the experience. The uncertainty is freaking me out, with rumours of layoffs and the certification program and all.

I feel like all my networking feeds and certifications are geared to technical roles and technical buzzwords. I’m working with a leader from LinkedIn Sales Solutions and they want me to come speak to their team on how consulting sells so they can better support professional services firms. I’m trying to figure out an easy framework to explain it. What are some specific nuances of our selling that I’m missing:

1. Practice: Function vs. industry vs. Account

2. Pipeline: BD to find opps vs. RFPs

3. People: MDs/Partners are the “sellers” but analysts, managers, and SMs do a lot of the heavy lifting

Advice on pivoting into Sales from Accounting? I know I have the skills and it’s a better fit, personality-wise. I am not a super technical accountant, but my background is still a super strong skill set I bring to the table with me (the ability to process and translate the technical to layman’s terms, and the anticipation of client needs and wants). Sanity check. I like a nice lifestyle. Currently make 350-550k with bonus. 53 years old. About 400k in brokerage. Another 1.9million in retirement accounts. House worth 1.2 million with loan of 625k. For retirement pension will be $2400 per mo which goes to my wife if I die for life. Another 3800k Per month estimated from Social Security. I plan on working another 10 years or so maybe less once the kids graduate college. I am this will be out in 2024. What should I be doing or thinking about?
