Honesty didn’t get them the time off approved.
Jesus, this industry died when we started letting hall monitors become CDs.
You are a creative. You know how above-and-beyond we’re asked to go and you understand the stigma attached to taking even a normal amount of time off. If you want to concern troll about their character, be my guest. But I’d choose empathy, introspection and silence. You are not the vacation police.
I’m not sure this is worthy of confrontation. It’s not your responsibility as a CD to teach them the importance of honesty (that was their parents’ job).
Take note of it, and use that knowledge to inform your relationship with them moving forward.

The best way to help them is to let them know their time off is their time off to do with as they please and they don’t owe an explanation to anybody. If somebody wants to ask why they need the time, it’s “personal.”
