What’s the most harmful finance advice you’ve heard? Mine: “Just say yes and figure it out later.” That is the type of advice that gets you and your team buried.

Ignorant absolutes

Yea these are over simplified for sure

"Always assume the best in people." While I like the positivity and optimism, I have not found this to be helpful advice when providing wealth management consultation services. I have found it to be more useful to be realistic and work with people where they're at, rather than assume the best of them at all times and not prepare adequately for contingencies.

Good one

I'm always partial to "don't worry, the market has already priced that in." If you go along with that enough, there's no need to worry about much of anything, well, until there is. Always avoid that kind of dangerous laziness.

Spoken like a true risk analyst!

Fake until you make it!

I still think this is good advice lol

Hi
Applied for a position in Johnson and Johnson Canada. Reached the final round 3 weeks back. After not getting any updates I emailed the HR a couple of weeks back. They responded back telling me that they’ll have an update for me the next week. Again I emailed them on Thursday asking if they have anything for me before the long weekend ( Good Friday & Easter). No response whatsoever. Will emailing them again be inappropriate? I desperately need this job

I applied to a job at KPMG and did the first two rounds of interviews, general interview, then case study and competency. Never before have I had such a positive feedback at the end of an interview of the 2nd, both said really like me, I did well etc.
It's now been 3 weeks since the interview and I still haven't heard back from the team other than the odd HR email saying they are following up with them. Is there something going on internally, I.e hiring freeze in the London office atm?

Hey all! I have an interview with
Deloitte in Regulatory Risk and more precisely in their Investment Management Services team. I would like to know if anyone
knows what the job entails exactly. I keep hearing about people "fooled" into taking a job in risk advisory thinking it'll really be advisory while they only end up doing IT and Audit support (which I do not want to do).
Is it the case here?
Thanks!

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.
