Hi fishes,
I am planning a switch so was going through some salary data for a software engineer. My ex-senior manager recommended me a website: Growceed.com which helped me a lot in getting clarification about a lot of things but I am in doubt whether the average salaries of software engineer mentioned on Growceed.com really that much in top MNC companies.
When does HCL pay annual bonus? Which month?
Selected in a Big4 firm and one MNC shortlisting is going on, hopefully will be selected within 7-8 days. The MNC will be offering good package, but Big4 is just giving 20% hike in my salary and waiting for my decision to say yes or no,to proceed further with offer letter. Query :1. If I say yes to the Big4, and when they issue the offer letter, and then I reject, can they blacklist me. 2. Also if accept the offer and say no, in that case can they blacklist me from their firm.EY Deloitte KPMG PwC

I moved from another state to Ohio. I had 15 years but only got credit for 10 and retirement starts at 0. You can buy up to 5 years if you have the money. So something to consider if you change states. However, with 17 years & MA+30 I make about 90,000, which sounds like a lot but we live paycheck to paycheck. However, for me, it was a significant bump in pay from where I was. When I first started teaching, my salary was so low I could have qualified for food stamps.
With 76% of America’s teaching force being women, low teaching salaries impact women adversely, both with take-home pay and retirement savings. It reflects society’s long-held patriarchal beliefs that women’s work is not highly valued. I have 14 years and a Ph.D., and I only earn $70,000.00 annually. Although I really enjoy teaching, I’m looking for an administrative job because I can’t afford to pay off my student loans.
40+ years = $80,000 🤯🤬 I know the cost of living in Texas is much cheaper and all, but at 20+ years, educators should be making at least 6 figures for their expertise and the amount of time dedicated to the profession and professional growth of other educators too! Texas needs to do better to retain the good teachers!
Fixer upper houses in my neighborhood are starting at $500k. A house in decent condition is $600k+. Denver doesn’t have ‘starter homes.’ If you’re lucky enough to get a home…..you stay in it.
Even teachers making $100k need a partner to survive in Denver.
We don’t get additional pay for
Masters or PhD (unless grandfathered in). I’ll max out at around $60,000. NC wonders why all their teachers are leaving the profession. It’s because they’re tired of all the extra work and then having to pick up side hustles and part time jobs to make ends meet. Teachers get steps in their salary until year 15 and then NO RAISES FOR TEN YEARS.
That’s crazy
135,000+ w/longevity pay. It’s common for anyone with a masters and 13-15 years (depending on the district) to make 6 figures.
Enthusiast
Our roads are fixed, or currently being worked on. Lol
Starting next year $122,000, 25 years or more with masters or PhD. But it is very expensive to live here. I pay $4,000 a month for mortgage, taxes and home owners insurance.
I just finished 45 years. Next year I will make $111k. We got a nice raise. Private school. Public pays more but I would not teach in public school in SF.
On either west or east coast it’s common to make 6 figures with or without a PhD. Just finished my 18th year of teaching and making 106k. The top pay is 131k with 30 years experience and a PhD. You just have to teach in a state that pays teachers well which is on the left or right coast.
All these teachers commenting six figures makes me want to cry. My district tops out at $70k with a 1k stipend for a masters and 1.5k for doctorate.
According to realtor .com the average home cost 750 K
135k with a masters
Ours is 130,000 then years after step 19 you get $4,000 increments
Current arena- after 25 years= $63,000 with a possible supplement of 10k (but that can always go away).
I'm not sure, but I've taught in two very different arenas: 1 where if teachers would strike because they were unafraid, they would get paid a fare wage. In that arena the current highest salary as of 2023 is over $114,000. It paid off.
In #2 where teachers can only $63k, no teachers have ever collectively went on strike to not teach until a livable wage was set. I guess it starts with mentality and self worth, then coming together knowing the risk is worth it.
Apologies for typos guys. Edit button not coming up to fix it 😔
Yeah the edit button is on a timer for reasons unknown!
Ours is about the same. No difference for a masters +30 vs a phd <- no point in getting a phd unless the “Dr.” In front of my name matters to me. Pay would matter more!!
Bergen County NJ is where teachers see the money!!
MA/ 20+ years $70-90, 000 salary scales in public schools in S.GA. Thinking of getting a PHD. It would be for my own accomplishment, because there is just a small differential for teachers . Would have to go into administration to make a small differential!
My district caps out at 77K
8 years in as a TA in NC ….I just went back 8 years ago $13,000 now at 27,000. I just left the love of my life (THE CHILDREN) to take a job in the medical field 🙏🏻❤️😢. NC doesn’t care about teachers.
I always said if I were single I would be a STATE EMPLOYEE working and living off of welfare and food stamps.🤦♀️
$80k
I believe my district tops out in the mid 80k range as base pay with max eduction and longevity. Realistically most of the people with those terminal degrees also have extra duty contracts that add on another few thousand dollars because they're doing some kind of specialist work in addition to regular teaching. It's not bad, but rural Alaska cost of living is high so it doesn't go as far as it should.
Top in my district is about 48k with 30 years.
We are around 125k
