What’s your approach when you see a job that ticks every box except one thing, like awkward hours or a longer commute?
Do you still apply and see what happens or skip it entirely?
Interested to hear how people weigh up the trade-offs.

It kind of depends on what that one thing is. Awkward hours are fine. I'm used to it and don't have kids or pets or anything that would make it a problem. Distance could be since I have to take the bus to work.

I used to walk 5 minutes to work now I've commited 30 minutes to 1 hour everyday for years and truly the time adds up and it sucks. You can occupy yourself with books or music but there will always be a loss of time.

I still apply, especially when I really need a job, but I do so with the understanding that most of the crappy things that you see on an application are non-negotiable. Like, you can't convince them to make things better or they wouldn't have put crappy circumstances on their job advertisement.

Yeah sometimes they can make exceptions for certain things but usually most things are set in stone.

Definitely skip it! A Long commute is for the birds! I would rather be close to home and not sit in traffic for a few hours.

Nothing worse than trying to make plans for after work and then you're stuck in traffic...

I still apply, but the pay and benefits absolutely have to be there.

About month ago I was diagnosed with coronary artery disease (CAD) and had to go through cardiac catheterization to get a stent.
I am in mid 30s and it's unbelievable that i have got this. Have been quite down mentally for last few weeks, and don't think if I can sustain the consulting life anymore.
I am working hard to stop the progression of disease and potentially reverse it. Hope things work out.

My fiancé will NOT stop talking about her ex. After I found out they were texting arguing she justified it by saying it was about the dogs and not them. Even though Her social media is full of his pics. She still sends him $50 a month for dog food, still goes to work right by his place and suspiciously needs keys. I try to bring it up and I get dismantled for being too mean and making “false accusations.” How much more obvious can it be?

Senior engineer making 135k and I was offered a promotion to engineering manager after completing a development plan. Near the end of the plan and I expect compensation talks to start soon. Based on some research around Boston and my role in the company, I feel 165k plus 10-15% bonus is fair. Nonetheless, first time going through something like this and asking for thoughts and comments. Thanks!
