What does success in this role look like in 6 months? You can figure out what's top of mind for them when it comes to executing in your role.
Mine is something I saw online a few months ago, "How does this role contribute to the company’s larger strategic goals?” It shows I'm thinking big picture and thinking as a team player.
I'm going to be honest, I rarely ask a question because I have never known what to ask. I am really going to write this down and start using it. This is a genius question to ask.
Describe a situation in which you had to work with a difficult person (co-worker, customer, supervisor, etc.). How did you handle the situation?
I like asking, "What do you like most about yourself?"
It's a play on strengths and weaknesses that highlights self-awareness.
If you're meeting with the hiring manager, I would recommend asking: “Is there anything that keeps you or the team up at night? How could I help resolve those issues in my role at [Company Name]?” This shows that you care about making their job easier. If you’re meeting with a recruiter who is not the hiring manager, you might ask the same question but say “Is there anything that keeps the hiring manager or the team up at night? …” I hope this helps! You’ve got this 💪
