What’s your take on companies offering stock options if that company is small and not public yet? My husband was offered quite a few stock options and the company is unlikely to ever go public. I feel like it’s way to not have to pay employees more but make it seem like they’re still getting something. I would love other’s POV’s so I can understand it better

It’s a scam most of the time to not pay out bonuses to the employees. If there is an exit op, it could be lucrative but if there is no chance, then it’s Monopoly money.

Great points, thanks for your insight

I would just be careful with that. I have seen people make a ton of money from stock options but I have also seen the opposite. Definitely try to negotiate a higher base salary.

Yeah it seems risky to me

It’s normal for smaller companies to give those stock options because they are using the majority of their capital to run and grow the business. They could be worthless, or they could be a huge windfall. If the rest of the offer and compensation don’t work, I wouldn’t let that be the deciding factor.

Oh this is a great point! I didn’t think about that before

If you see there is potential of it going IPO, then it would be worth it. If not, then I would tell your husband to reevaluate and try to find another job if the salary isn’t at least at market level

Hi, how do I make sure that the AWS AutoPredict in the AWS Forecast module makes use of the RTS (Related Time Series)? Additional Posts in Salaries in Finance

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

Does anybody know what the typical salary range is and total comp for someone starting out as an internal or external wholesaler? If you are one of these, can you share about your experience in terms of whether you liked it or not, work life balance, travel, etc?

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.
