When do you give up on finding the perfect job and settle for what's available? I wanted a place with safe ratios and no mandatory OT, but I've been unemployed since September, and my savings are almost depleted. I know I shouldn't settle, but I also need to eat lol. What's the best thing to do?

You're at this point now. Settle. An imperfect job and a paycheck is better than no job or paycheck at all. Take what you can get, keep applying, and if something better comes along, take it.

Move to a different place if you really cannot find anything like that in your area. There are absolutely poorly run places, but I’ve never been out of work for months because I couldn’t find a decent enough one.

Get unemployment for now and look for a high paying remote position

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.

Can you still earn status under the old world requirements if you have not combined? Trying to see if I can score an extra year of plat before I combine but idk if stays will count now, merged or not.

I studied finance in undergrad and had a couple of internal audit internships. I only started a few month ago but I never saw myself doing IT Audit and I don’t like it thus far! Would I need to get a CPA in order to move into audit or something more finance/accounting oriented like FDD, Valuation, etc.? (Still need to get to 150, thinking of doing an online MAcc)

How do you deal with a manager who expects 3 months of work overnight? I have tried structuring , creating a plan to show him how the activities are being executed. However, he seems to be someone who turns around every other hour to ask ‘Is it done’? I am usually pretty good at managing expectations but having a hard time conveying how unreasonable he is being. Despite being organized, I am coming across as scattered and jumbled since I have been working 15+ hours with no food and break daily

Hello all, I work full time as an RN at the VA. I’ve been looking for a side hustle to do on my own time. Anyone know of any opportunities?

Comforting others:
When someone tells me bad news regarding their health, I say everything I am supposed to say (I’m sorry to hear that, I’m here for you, etc) EXCEPT “everything is going to be ok”. Because I can’t guarantee that and I really don’t know if everything is going to be ok. I was taken aback recently when a friend told me I am calloused and cold-hearted for not being able to say those words. Is she right? Should I start saying this for the purposes of providing comfort only??
