In our department we have a re-education school, what we do is that when new ones arrive they usually arrive in pairs, we train them again because before that many came with little knowledge.
If that happens in my department, we are a small town police station, but that is not why we are going to accept basically anyone, we have had a problem of police violence, corruption, and even domestic violence from these new police officers, quite a shame.
In our department we have a deficit of 23% of the personnel and before hiring someone they send us surveys and basically, they send us the results of the interview, in view of not altering the work environment we decide who enters and who does not, in 2022 very Few people, I think 4 people have classified, is there any reason why new police officers are not properly educated?
We have to develop new best practices to train better policemen, it is true that we are all new, and not all police schools are the same, but I have seen illogical errors in new policemen, during a shooting session one fired a shot to his right side instead of the front, luckily there was nothing next to him.
We are from NY and we only accept new policemen who come from the New York Academy, we seem conceited but we all know that in all states the laws are different and the social customs are too, it is better to have a policeman who knows the area, otherwise That way you avoid mistakes.
As police officers we also start with mistakes, it is not good that we have a lack of personnel just because we feel that they are not well trained, the time has come to be fair and to develop strategies to help these new police officers, they all deserve an opportunity.
