When someone calls in already fuming and before you can even say “hello,” they hit you with:
Get me your supervisor.
No intro,no context. Just rage. And when you try to explain that there’s a process like, I legally need to read disclosures and get your consent, they straight up refuse. But still want to be transferred.

So now I’m sitting there, getting yelled at for doing my job while also not allowed to do my job.

Anyone get those calls where it feels like a no-win situation from the start?

Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.

At a different job I had a customer trying to swindle me in telling me that there was a deal in an item that never had a deal or promotion for sale so he made me scan the item 20 times before believing me. Obviously, he finally let it go but I scan it with an inventory scanner that showed me all of the sale price promotions if there were any
