When your colleagues ask you how much you earn, do you tell them? I was having lunch with a few people I work with yesterday and one lady straight out asked all of us what we're earning. Not sure if she's bold or just rude. I wanted to decline to answer but the other three people just told her what they earned without hesitation, so I felt obligated to answer her as well.

I always provide a ridiculous answer. Like 9.92 billion dollars. Along with a statement of - I don't usually discuss tjese types of things - but since you asked... Usually gets the point across with a bit of humor.

In the words of rich homie quan, a hundred thousand dollars (in 2 days)

I haven't been asked here yet. If I was, I wouldn't have a problem answering, but I'm something of an open book. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to disclose it.

Decline to answer, but I know being put on the spot is tough. Always ends up with drama, and I’m never sure how many are being truthful when they do start sharing.

I would have just told her that was none of her business. And yes, she's bold and rude. I can't fathom how some people feel entitled to ask someone about their personal finances. What a world.

I was just talking to a younger friend who goes to Cal and It seems like the kids these days hate FAANG or at least Amazon and Facebook are not desired at all. I personally don’t see too many issues working at either Amazon or Facebook because I work at Deloitte where I’m sure we have many questionable clients and worked in financial services before. Curious on whether people are thinking about the ethics of their exit company when deciding to move?

I asked for a raise in April 2022 after three years with my company. Positive feedback since day one. Learned I was making less than peers at other asset managers in NYC with less experience (14 years). Latest conversation was with HR about how they calculate salaries. I’ve been asked to provide examples how my role has changed since I started to justify the increase. Is this normal? Or is this just their way of denying my request?
