There’s a group on IG called irl.SD.
It’s what I used when I first moved here a few months ago and it’s a low stakes social networking group with fun events like coffee walks, beach bonfires, seasonal activities, etc.
and a monthly mixer to meet new folks.
There’s a lot of folks from all ages looking for new friends.
Bear in mind that this is a Navy town, and all military are taught to not talk about themselves. As humans, they need someone to chat with but won't start the small talk.
You can try joining meet ups depending on your interests.
How old are you? Are you single or married? Do you have kids? What race and religion are you? Are you religious? Are you gay or straight? Are you male or female? Are you into sports? Are you into hiking? Are you a foodie? Are you interesting and fun? Where are you located in San Diego? What do you do for fun? How introverted are you? Are you into sports?
Get where I am going?
I enjoyed volunteering at the animal shelter on Coronado. It's called PAWS of Coronado. I absolutely loved taking the dogs for walks and seeing the different shops downtown. I also enjoyed going to The Grove Church in San Diego. It's closer to Mission Valley, but worth the drive from where I lived! There is a great sense of community and belonging there. I recommend downloading Meetup. That's how I got into one of my other church groups and met some truly amazing people! You can find all sorts of groups and activities to do on there. Also, Groupon is good for finding something to do at a discounted price. La Jolla Beach has scuba diving, kayaking, and I think even snorkeling. If all else fails then go to the beach! I loved being by the ocean and swimming in mostly the shallow end of the water lol. Sunset Cliff was always a comfort to me too. Oh jeez, now I'm crying because I miss it so much!
There’s always church
I’ve seen some really active SD social groups on Facebook.
