Hi Fishes, Pls help,
YOE: 13 yrs
Cctc: 13 lpa
Have cleared HCL interview. Initially they offered 23 lpa (via proposed offer letter), but i requested to reconsider it for 25 lpa.
After 5 days, they sent final offer letter of 19 lpa (stating they can offer max 50% as per L4 approval).
Queries:
1. Is this normal or rare case, reducing the offer amount from what quoted initially?
2. Should I accept or negotiate?
I don't have any other offer as of now.

Get a good partner / md referal. Also San Diego isn’t a large market.
“Is interested?” You mean “am interested” since you are already speaking in first person. Consulting focuses on details.
“and am” just doesn’t do it for me tbh 🥴
You missed the recruiting cycle.
Yes! Sorry it’s supposed to be “am interested”😅
Yup I know :/ I missed the recruitment cycle by the time I realized I want to go into consulting. Any advice on how I can break in still?
Have you done any case work or internships in consulting? Don’t want to seem like a downer but this is going to be a difficult time to “break” into consulting with the market being what it is and no prior work/activities pointing towards it. With that being said I did make a switch late in college and the only reason I got the job was a strong relationship with the recruiter.
Advice: Find the recruiters at your desired companies that are assigned to your school and schedule a coffee chat with all of them to learn about the field. If after learning more about the industry you like it make sure to focus on a niche (tech, strategy, real estate, risk) and have a “Why” well thought out. An example of my why is I genuinely enjoy the dynamic nature of consulting with new clients and work every couple weeks/months. Even if I hate the project I am currently on it will be over in a month, and I can avoid similar projects in the future. Other examples: senior executive exposure early in your career, learning opportunities greater than industry, intrafirm flexibility. Then apply and network like crazy through any connections you have
Were you able to find someone to chat with? I havve several friends who are in that role so they might be available to chat. Iw ould be happy to pass your info along so that someone can contact you :)
I would recommend outreach on LinkedIn as well
