New? I’d argue that’s close to impossible but i mean maybe at the flagship store in Paris.
Realistically you’re gonna have to shop second hand if you want it by Christmas
The pre-spend is approx. 2:1 right now in New York. Beginning of the year is easier to score a quota bag.
Fashionphile or The Real Real has brand new ones. You’ll just have to pay the premium because you’re not going to get one from Hermes directly without a decent profile as a new customer.
There’s a whole process of working with an Hermes SA buying other goods before they’ll offer you a new birkin. Agree with A1 that the real real may be a good option, albeit for a large premium.
Do you buy purses often
Omg lol.
Yeah highly recommend watching some YouTube videos on this 🤣 unfortunately everyone posting here is right. It’s a whole song and dance
Manufacturers in China who already make birkins can make it for you for like $1-2k and it looks the exact same as the in store ones. Just saying🤷♀️

If you only want the birkin (nothing else, not their scarves, jewelry, etc.), just go to fashionphile. They have a big selection in their NYC showroom. Otherwise, prepare to drop at least 20k in other items in the next two months in a store for a maybe Christmas call from an SA.
So…I put my name down… they said 2 years haha
The problem is you’ll constantly get trumped on the waitlist by clients who spend money with them in the interim, so you’ll never surface to the top of the waitlist. (Some European countries however do operate on a pure waitlist system without regard to purchases but you’d most likely have to convince them that you’re a local. Paris is pure luck with a lottery system).
I second the suggestions here on buying from reputable sites like TRR, Fashionphile, Madison Couture, or even Sothebys. You can also buy in the Facebook groups that might be cheaper; there’s a paid authentication service called bababebi that’s well worth it and is the undisputed gold standard in sniffing out fakes. Of course you still need to make sure the Facebook seller actually ships you the bag you authenticated, etc.
Why that brand?
I love the thought but maybe confirm that’s where she wants you to put that money. It could have just been in passing.
It all depends on the size/ color
Three options for you:
1. Try your luck at the Hermes store - chances are 1% in the US; 5-10% in Paris (depending on color/size)
2. Juliaroseboston - 25/30, almost double the retail (she is greedy, but she has great stuff)
3. Join Hermes buy/sell group on Facebook. Because the market is down and few people are spending on luxury goods, some excellent deals are out there. Just be careful of anyone who is offering you a bag at/below retail (except for Birkin-35)
Great suggestions, although chiming in to add that unless it’s peak Covid retail hell, the chances of walking into an H boutique as a new client and walking out with a B/K/C is 0.00%
Also OP, if you go the route of The Real Real or Fashionphile I’d recommend getting a second Authenticator because some people have been unwittingly sold high quality fakes. Because I have both, I’m just sharing so you don’t get played.
Make sure the feet are hammered in, feet should not twist on/off or even come off.
Make sure there is a blind stamp inside the bag, typically that’s gonna be a code on the inside right of the bag. You can quickly google the stamp you see as various forums like Pursebop write about the codes.
Birkins do not come with an authenticity card. Immediate red flag.
Stitching should be at a slight diagonal / / /, never straight.
The sangles (on the hardware for the little belt thing) should be Pearl-like, never flat.
Stamps come in a variety of depths, sometimes they are deep and sometimes light. The code in the bag will give you an idea of what stamp is relevant and if a little marker is missing etc.
The hardware piece under the stamp shouldn’t be pulling/straining the leather, even on a real bag. That’s not a bag you want long term.
Good luck!
That’s completely fair and it’s a lovely shopping experience! You got this!
Do you know how much a birkin bag cost? Like $15K!
Money can’t buy happiness… or new Birkin 😂
This is a more realistic goal for next Christmas honestly. If you start now you can make it happen maybe depending on what color you want. The advantage of secondhand is you can be pickier and maybe find a rarer model no longer in stores.
Lol. Yea, you have a much better chance of getting what you want on the secondhand market. You can scan sites periodically and see what comes up. Much less stressful than trying to wrangle the game for a new bag. Although I recognize the packaging and experience will not be the same.
Resell sites like Fashionphile
