I agree with you on that. I have never treated anyone like that, but I have seen managers who do. I would rather have a good team member who stays than have to train someone all over again.

Absolutely get everyone in give them all as much training as possible as much help and assistance as needed and then let them fly!
I saw recently a view that some people understand the details of their jobs just fine but aren’t good at them. They’re actually detrimental to their teams. But not bad enough to fire with cause. Therefore they get promoted into a supervisory role. Training new hires as opposed to hurting their teams. This continues on for many years. Many managers aren’t actually good at the real work and know it deep down. They use this position of authority to compensate for their insecurities bc they know you’re more capable than they are and view you as a threat in some cases. Not always accurate. But it helps me understand why there are so many terrible managers.
Also true. Let’s bring back merit based promotions and discontinue the abuse of stellar workers.
