I don’t know! It’s sad!

Maybe b/c of the confidentiality standards of federal govt work?

Even though the fed is the top employer for lawyers, there’s barely any members.

Has anyone signed a contract to work for X amount of years with the government and then broken that contract? Are there repercussions? The contract was two sentences that said I would work for X years. That’s it. I cannot find any information online about what happens if you hate your new job so much that you quit. Anyone?

Does anyone have tips for the structured interview process? I’ve done my research but am not getting past the first round. My credentials must be acceptable if I’m being invited to interview at all. Since post-interview feedback isn’t provided, I’m sort of grasping at straws here!

What’re the various agencies/components’ return to office dates (if announced)? And what’re the remote work policies after that date? I hear DOJ said their individual components will decide when exactly to return between mid-March and early May and some are offering a lot of remote flexibility even after then. Curious to hear more details though, both for specific DOJ components and other agencies!

Those who are or have been AUSAs, what sort of letters of recommendation make the most impact on an application (outside of a former AUSA/judge etc..)? My issue is prior to my current firm doesn’t seem to value the AUSA experience, we have no former AUSA’s in my office and only a view in the whole firm nationwide (same goes for clerks), and I was a transactional associate at my first firm so don’t think anything anyone would have to say would be particularly interesting to a hiring panel...

Anyone have any advice or insight on interviewing for a GS General Attorney position? I’m really excited and working to prepare for an interview I’ve been offered. Good morning. I am currently a senior associate in BugLaw, and I have applied to several trial attorney jobs in Chicago offices of federal agencies since the start of the pandemic. According to usajobs.gov, my applications to the DOJ and CFTC were “referred,” and my application to the SEC was received and my GS scale verified. But I haven’t received any updates on these applications in over a month. Does anyone here have any insights on these or on federal hiring generally? Thanks!
