This one is questionable. Its clearly stated as a statement in question form. Not perticularly asking about direct details of illness. The Manager has every right to protect the insurance of the company and all permits by introducing a question only out of the concern and welfare of the employee. So take it whatever way you would like, but this is NOT a HIPAA Violation. And finally, every company has its own way of running it. Trust me, things will make sense once you get to the top. Try to learn all the ropes of the company. See how it operates with the different people. This should help with some understanding. And trust me, they do care about the welfare of their employees. Without being first, can you win the race?
You clearly don’t know how the healthcare system works. But you be blessed
Wow my boss would never do something like that. It is so inappropriate for your boss to go ask people that and its not anyone's business even if you did fake sick. You have the PTO and that is all that matters. The rest is irrelevant really.
That's pretty rude behavior, but it's probably not that unusual. Managers are often skeptical of the stories workers tell. And I'm not sure about it being a HIPPA violation, people always throw that around and it's usually not the case. Anyway, if you're offended by that you should look for a better job. Working for someone you know is suspicious of you isn't great.
If you work in a hospital or care facility it is hippa violation to be asking about a patient that’s sick . So that is very unusual because as a professional that’s been at this job longer than I have you should know better.
