Yeah, they might not realize they are doing this and it was never brought up by their old partner. If it bother you just talk to them about it in a way that won’t make them feel they need to be defensive. As a team, you should be working/making decisions/etc as a….well, team.

You should bring it up. He might not realize he's cutting you out, or doesn't think it's as big of a deal to you as it is. I'd rather know I'm doing something wrong than be allowed to keep doing it none the wiser.

I think I’ve done this too. Never thought about it like that though. I never did it consciously to bypass my team partner but I do tend to be a bit dominant when taking on projects.
I’ve seen it before. I actually quit a job once because of something similar. I’m more “passive,” but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to co-lead or that I won't have what it takes. Creative partners should uplift each other and work together so both can shine.
