Consulting ruins homes
I have seen this second-hand. It’s tough, and last-minute travel changes require cooperation. Let your team, leadership know what’s going on. Ask them to work with you as you work through it.
And, potentially consider a move to federal or state/local. It’s not a perfect answer, but it may help initially. Good luck
Ex and I have an agreement that she’ll take them when I’m traveling and I’ll get them on the all weekends but one. If I’m not traveling reverts back to 50/50
Literally going through this at the moment. Actually haven’t filed yet and physically separating in a few days. We’ll see how it goes. Wish you the best!
Depends on the state and how amicable the both of you are with the divorce. You options are 1) get a local project 2) be a weekend parent 3) find a local job. In addition to the logisitics, you will have to consider how to manage and get some space and time to get your personal life back on track between being a road warrior and parent, which can be tough with the long hours of consulting. Its doable - I have been able to power through it and have known a few others who do, but its your personal choice
I still travel and get my son 3 weekends a month to make up for the weekdays I can't get him
Ex and I work it out that they stay with her when I am on travel. Need to make it friendly to workout. Works fine except that when I am gone a lot the kids “settle in” and move all the clothes, toys, stuff to mom’s place and it is hard to get things rebalanced
For gods sake, get off the road
