Wondering: how many of us have wanted to be more explicit in educating about LGBT+ issues, development, history (etc.) But couldn't due to a significant barrier? If this is you what was the barrier?

I was generally worried when I taught in very a rural school, but I was fortunate to get permission from my administrators to teach about Gender and Sexuality in my Humanities class. Now I am open about incorporating identity into my class discussions as a teacher in a more urban area!

Our district just adopted the HRC Foundation Welcoming Schools. Professional development providing training and resources to create LGBTQ and gender inclusive schools. It’s a great start and everyone so far is on board with district full support.

I recently bought this great new book, We Are Everywhere, about the history of the LGBTQ community. I teach history and at my rural school don't feel comfortable talking about it unfortunately.

I got a new job though in what I hope will be a more accepting district!

so many wonderful LGBT texts that I still run from. But that's OK. I can still sneak in Tennessee Williams, Janes Baldwin, Edna St Vincent Millay, and two other dozens besides. And they'll have to pry my copy of Truman Capote's OTHER VOICES OTHER ROOMS from my cold, dead, gay hands!

Hello Fishes,

I have joined hcl on 24 th sep 2021 and my last working day here is 18th May 2022.
Today I received my provisional full and final settlement and the payable amount is negative -11454. They are recovering the full AMPB amount which I got from September months.
I have heard from this platform only that hcl stopped the recovery police but still I got the negative fnf.

I work for a specialized group in my litigation group and have had a wonderful experience and really respect and appreciate my boss, the co-chair of this specialized group. I’ve now accepted the opportunity to take over my parents business and plan to leave practice this summer. How do I even start this conversation with him? I’m sure I care a lot more than the group does, but I feel like because he went out of his way to really mentor and bring me into his group, i feel bad.

Protocol for responding (or not) to unsolicited emails from recruiters to your work email? In other words, is it acceptable to just ignore without a response? Can anyone share the pay structure for the company? I'm new and trying to learn.

I'm feeling a lot of anger towards my manager (now he's acting normal but there were moments where he was condescending/dismissive/mocked my and others work/arrogant/said stuff was "wrong" constantly/belittling the difficulty of tasks etc. in the past project).
Maybe it is "standard chewing out" but it bothered me a lot. So much that I find myself still getting all fired up inside thinking about it...
Idk how to let go of this :/ Thoughts?

This past week I got an envelope hand delivered to me by a student I do not teach. In it was a trans pin she had bought for me, as well as a drawing and a letter of thanks.

Again, this is not my student, but I think this speaks to the power of visibility. Students need to know we are members of society. All I did was wear my own trans pin and “love is love” pin on my lanyard, and my trans flag mask (occasionally).

But for that student it was enough.

Can I brag about something I’m really proud of?

This summer there was a sale on First Book for LGBT books, so I decided I was going to create a collection of titles that students at my school could borrow. Every book in the white bookshelf of the attached picture is LGBT, ready and waiting for the student that might need it.

How are you supported (or not) in your school as an LGBT person?

Hi All! My colleague and I are strong LGBTQ+ allies and with our principals support we are looking to start a GSA. We are in an elementary school and not really sure where to start. Any ideas?

So, last year, our GSA died of its own weight. This year, in addition to everything else I’m doing, I’ve been approached by a number of students to resurrect it. I am thrilled.

I live in a very small rural community. I am trying to start a LGBTQ+ Alliance group for my students. Currently my administration is on board, but you can see the apprehension as I talked with them this morning.

I am not sure how to proceed, they approve but do not want me to be school sponsored "for liability" reasons. How are we supposed to do anything if I can't use the buses, or take them to things sponsored by the LGBT Community? HELP! Please no haters.

I don’t know if coming out is something I should do or not anymore. My girlfriend and I want to get married in the next couple of years but thats not something I want to keep secret. It hurts me that I feel like I have to do that, but I don’t want to risk losing my job. I know they can’t fire me for being in a wlw relationship but they don’t have to give a reason. I don’t want the backlash of the community either since the area I teach in is really rural. Just sad I guess.
