Working for finance doesn't necessarily mean one is good with personal finance. Agree?.

Absolutely. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not. Work is so different from everything else for me.

What do you have to be good at? Curious.

IMO You don't have to be good at as long as you've got a basic understanding of how it works.

Wdym? When I say I’m bad at finances, I mean things like… I have no idea what the right health insurance to pick is, I get analysis paralysis when deciding what life insurance policy to buy, I forget to make time to do my 401k rollover

You need to help people and give your love money

It's like being a personal trainer for someone else's finances. We can whip them into shape, optimize their portfolio and create a killer budget plan. But for some reason when it comes to our own wallets, we suddenly forget everything we preach. Suddenly that latte habit looks more appealing than investing for retirement and impulse buys become our cardio

How do PPMDs make sure when you are replacing an incumbent, you don't get handed down a broken system ? What sort of knowledge transfer and contractual framework do you get the client to agree to and how do you negotiate on that? I feel clients are not always honest and hide a lot of landmines which a consulting company can walk into and blamed for it.

I’d to get a job in a small architecture firm or work for a developer to help build up my network. For the past 6 years I’ve taught high school architecture and engineering and done real estate on the side. I have an industrial design degree and tremendous construction and real estate sales knowledge. I also started architecture school but stupidly switched to industrial design. I don’t want to go back to school for architecture. Ultimately, I want to own my own company developing real estate.
