Seeking guidance. We had an employee reach out asking us to address tragedies happening in the world. Looking for advice, thoughts, guidance on when and how to voice support or guidance on things that happen outside the workplace. The list of things to address in the world feels so long. What do you do at your company?

Our company offers EAP (counseling) for us for free up to 8 sessions. We also have Volunteer time off to support causes close to our heart. They offer wellness incentives as well to help us. Then they have initiatives geared toward veterans, LGBTQA and womens rights and etc. They have voluntary meetings to celebrate diversity and etc as well.

Our company is big enough that the CEO or CHRO usually addresses items on a bulletin or social media run down - a variety of topics from war, mental health, time with family, tragic events, weather related devastation - often used to get people into our community groups or highlight benefits and services, but it’s a very fine line between putting out info that could offend people or addressing topics that could conflict with client/s.

like

You can checked LinkedIn. Large companies CEOs/leaders and CHROs make public statements. Just look up large companies that are household names and we what their leaders have posted and go from there.

Start with the problems closest to you. Like, in your local area, maybe about drug abuse or racism.

I'm reading this book on boundaries. In the work section it says I should tell my boss that I can't work after 5 PM. Knowing that advertising work commonly goes past 5 PM...would my job be in danger if I said that?

Has anyone had a Manager that does not work well with your ADHD? Im going through this right now and the way they communicate doesn’t match what I need. If I ask questions, they huff and puff. It’s sucks that I don’t have enough interest to continuously focus on the projects, but now I have even less motivation because I dread dealing with my manager.

Pretty sure the saga of the slave driven company has come to an end I’m the only HR person at this company. Friday I had full admin rights, and went to check email Saturday; account locked. Payroll/HRIS locked out. PEO service says no pending termination is on my file. Went to the office today to get my things just in case. Located in CA. Was about to report numerous violations too. All because I couldn’t solve 8 months of payroll issues in a day. 🫠 Good riddance, I’m getting a lawyer.

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.

I've been working at this company for about 3.5 weeks now. Its been great so far.

We have an org chart in our dashboard ATS/HRIS and so I clicked on my first day buddies name just for fun.

I was able to see her entire employee file..even her address. I was really freaked out and I went to another profile and the same thing happened, I was able to see this person's emergency contact. Is this fucking normal? Should I say something and will I get in trouble for looking at a colleagues file?
