Congratulations on the pregnancy!!! So exciting!! I would not because 1) if something went wrong early on, I wouldn’t want to have to tell the recruiter and 2) I wouldn’t want to be discriminated against. This topic comes up a lot- the general guidance is: take the interview and do not disclose the pregnancy. No one will notice you’re pregnant, especially since they likely didn’t know you before you gained a few extra pounds (if you do). Then (if) they make an offer, disclose your pregnancy to the hr representative you’re connected with. Ask the hr person what the leave policy is and if your circumstances would qualify. If yes, accept the position and disclose when you’re comfortable. If you don’t qualify, ask for the company to make an exception for you to the policy, and have the maternity leave written in to your offer (ask them to confirm in writing). Bottom line- the law clearly says that employers cannot discriminate against you for pregnancy in an interview/hiring decision, as that is a sex based discrimination. That said, women are often discriminated against for this reason, which is why the law exists. I, personally, did exactly what I described above and got the job. I did not qualify for the benefits but they wanted me to join badly enough that they made an exception for me and gave me the benefits anyway. Trust me- you will provide a lot of value between the time you’re hired and the time you go on leave- just be confident!

Thanks! So helpful!
Sort of curious what pregnant women do if they have a kid after 1-2 months on the job. Do companies generally allow maternity leave? Legit asking but I assume so?
Does it worth similarly with paternity leave?
Lots of companies have a policy that says you have to be employed for 12 months before being eligible for paid leave to discourage it. Still could get STD, thought
