It really depends on your situation and how much this gig would impact your trajectory. One project doesn’t define your entire career, but your integrity matters too. If you can afford to walk away, trust your gut.
This is tricky but I think you'd find yourself being uncomfortable doing the job you wouldn't put in 100% of your energy and time and that'll be noticable. It's hard to fake that too.
I turned down working on a campaign because I was incredibly uncomfortable with the topic. I’ve worked on some things that I wouldn’t normally do, but certain things just kind of cross the line. Can be great to push yourself, but you need to know where too much is too much.
In a good economy, I can afford to have preferences. But when I'm struggling financially, I'll take whatever I can get. If I don't do it, someone else will.
