Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Yeah, email makes me more able to articulate myself without feeling pressured to cave or acquiesce just because I'm trying to be polite. My preference would be email first, then in-person, then on a phone call because phone calls, in general, are not my favorite.

Same, but I’d want all my “back and forths” through email.
Email as well. I feel like it's easier for me to be assertive through email than in person. I also like having the added time to compose my thoughts and make sure I'm communicating clearly.

That’s exactly how I feel. I’m stumbling for words sometimes when I’m nervous.
I’m an email negotiator all the way. I need the time to craft my words and not spiral mid-sentence. Talking money on the spot makes my brain glitch and I just end up accepting whatever they say.

Yes, the glitches! I get nervous and give in too. Not just with negotiations. With other things in life. I need to work on it.
For negotiations always in person, for finalizing and agreeing on that negotiated rate and comp + packages always via email for accountability and documentation.

Good points. I usually just feel so much more comfortable behind the keyboard. Hehe
Hello,
I am open to any form of communication, I receive instant notification for emails, always available for phone calls, and can be available in person within traveling distance!
Mentor
Oh you are so versatile. I hope to be on your level one day!
Much prefer to negotiate in person! It’s so much easier for me to get a feel of what is a possibility and where I can focus my efforts. Email or anything written is an absolute necessity to have everything laid out. Verbal offers aren’t very concrete to me, so having something to reference is best.
Mentor
You must be good with your words! That’s awesome.
It depends. But if it were me I would negotiate wherever you feel comfortable.
Mentor
Yeah I agree. As long as the companies allow it.
