Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?
My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? The fact that you are concerned about coming off in a bad way explains why you didn’t get the raise before. You should stand up for yourself and prove your worth. I would recommend interviewing at other companies and bringing their offer to the table if you are really willing to stay but keep in mind that if they cover a competitor’s offer you’ll be waiting potentially another 10 years without a raise because they will remind you of when they covered the offer. I would consider other opportunities. All the best.
I agree!!!
You are worth more than that. Do some research on Glassdoor and present your leadership with facts: “X” is the market rate and “Y” is what you’re paying me. I’ve done A, B, C for this company, which has resulted in “D”. Try and monetize your productivity so they know what they’ll be losing if you go elsewhere.
Honestly not receiving a raise after the mentioned period of time shows your company is comfortable taking advantage and “coming off in a bad way”. I’m certain you have many other options. Find a company that appreciates your skills and loyalty. move on
I also have never known how to negotiate salary/asked for bonuses and have been grossly taken advantage of for years (which my boss acknowledged in my meeting yet only opted for the small bump)
You're a Regional Director and only getting paid 50K. They are taking advantage of you! Move NOW!
It’s okay to ask for more, as long as you plead your case in an organized and respectful way. I think it’s important to point out that the increase barely even covers inflation over the last year.
If your job title is correct, it sounds like you are grossly underpaid. I don’t know where you live maybe the cost of living is a lot cheaper. I would make a nice resume and start applying elsewhere. No raise for 10 years sounds very suspicious to me. Makes me think the company doesn’t care about their employees. You should search elsewhere and it won’t hurt to interview. If you really want to stay at this company you could bring a mother job offer to them and ask if they can match it. You’ll have to just communicate your skills and what you’ve done for the company for them. I would be searching around though, it really does sound like they are taking advantage at this point.
In the US, which is one of the most stable economies in the world in terms of inflation, prices double every 20 years. OP has essentially taken a $1000 cut every year for 10 years.
They either value you or they don’t. As my mom used to say, “when people show you who they are, believe them.” Start looking for a company that values you and offers a salary that proves it.
Absolutely time to go to bat for yourself. Honesty will go a long way if you’re working at an organization that values you. If they can’t bring you up to market value then you don’t need them
What industry do you work in? 10 years with nothing, not even a cost of living increase is very strange … even if there were performance issues in that time (not that I’m inferring you had poor performance, just trying to look another perspective). If you’re ready, I definitely think you should interview for comparisons u less you find something great in which case TAKE IT!
The fact that your title is Regional Director and you’re only getting paid $50k salary is ridiculous. Regional directors get paid a minimum of $180k salary not including the bonus incentives. My old district manager just got promoted to Regional Director and his salary is $190k and bonus incentive $75k at 100%. You are getting (for lack of a better word) WORKED! Bring that up to HR immediately and try to get the correct pay that you deserve if not, get the hell out of there!
Run!

I strongly suggest you start looking for another job. That just isn’t enough of an increase in 10 years to even make sense. Normally I would tell you to use the career app I’m building to negotiate, but honestly I don’t see the point.
It pass time for you ringer a new job
Well the way I see it is you're kind of in a tough spot. Your company just gave you an 11% raise, however that was after 10 years of allegiance and probably getting great at your job. I don't have a good answer to seeing new people come in but come in that don't have as much demanded upon them as you and the getting paid the same or more than you. This was a dilemma right now across the country and affecting all industries. My industry (retail food/grocery) is affected strongly by this by this as well as it is a 100% employee driven market now. Meaning what was an acceptable starting rate just 2 years ago is woeful now and gets sneered at and ignored. This has forced starting wages that are simply incredible but is necessary to staff stores. However, and getting back to your original point this has caused some 5 - 10 year people to become lesser paid than brand new folks....sheerly because of market forces.
Personally I would not be opposed to bringing it up and expressing your concerns about the wage gap. There is nothing wrong with that. And if they are unwilling to compensate fairly. Searching for a similar position in another company with your experience could be a better alternative.
I honestly would assume based on job title alone that you make 90-120k minimum. I don’t know what your job entails, but I know a lot of companies are raising minimum pay levels for salaried employees (entry level mind you) to 70k or more to compete in this market.
I would strongly advise putting together a solid resume outlining your strengths and experience, and using it to find a job elsewhere!
https://www.levels.fyi was a great resource for me. You can search within a company and filter by level, location, bonus, sign on bonus…
Hi OP (@Regional Director). It’s sad to see that you have been underpaid all these years. I’m saying this based on the fact that a Regional Director in based in the US with 10 YOE makes over $200K (base) in the State of Massachusetts. When you include 15-20% yearly bonus and stock options you get close to the $300K mark. Now, we’re not sure what country you live in, or which state (in case you’re in America) you live in. Those would be good things to mention in your post in order to get a realistic range because let’s face it, if you live in India, you probably would be making $200k base salary, but I’m quite confident you’d be making more that $50k after 10 YOE.
I was told by one of my higher ups to apply to work for your company’s competitor(s) and if and when you get a higher offer use that to negotiate a raise - salary match or you walk. And then take the higher offer if they don’t match it.
