True, I like what you said. This ever changing nature of consulting is getting onto me. I was actively looking and cracked the interview rounds when I was on bench for 3 weeks, but now I got a relatively easy going engagement and 5 days in person at the new firm sounds like an overkill especially with some paycut.

No. 5 days in person will get exhausting sooner than you think. I would only consider it if I got a significant pay bump - not in a scenario where I am losing money. The only reason to take something like this is if is a dream job of some sort and setting you up for future success. Since you are no longer on the bench, keep your job search going a bit longer.

Yes. It's getting harder to travel away week after week. My family needs me. Pay is low where I live and jobs expect you to be in the office. I'm looking at a huge pay cut to do similar work in industry. Being present at home carries more value. Leave the singles and MDs who enjoy being weekend parents to it.
5 day’s onsite in big tech or something like that? Sure. Especially if it means reduced work hours. But how much of a pay cut are we talking?
some 10k, not a bigtech. 40 minute drive from my place. Ugh there could be lesser workload but they are also asking for on call rotations. I don’t have anything like that at my place, it’s just that I’m rattled when I get on bench and the whole offshoring trend in Consulting. I don’t see a pathforward in Consulting but I’m only a Senior. TBH I’m looking for a lowkey team to be on
