From what I’ve heard, they make that decision during the interview process based on how well you interview/showcase your capabilities
L6 for sure.
L7 is usually exit for BCG principles/Mck APs (unless you had crazy relevant 8-10 years work ex before BCG)
L6 TC can go above 300K, so getting a raise shouldn't be a problem. They'll usually try to give you 10-20% above current TC

L6 unless you’ve got a background pre MBA that ties to the role (and you have more 8+ YOE). TC at level 6 is a very wide range. Anywhere from 200k to 330k ish. This is also dependent on role, org., and location (300+ is going to be SF or NY for non technical, otherwise you’re likely looking at 230 to 280)

Any view into how amazon sets signing bonus? With the salary cap, I heard they use signing bonuses to cover the gap to RSU vesting but how is it calculated?
Target pay band is calculated so if your TC target is 200k, you would receive 150k in salary and then in year 1, you receive 50k cash bonus.
Year 2 you would receive 40k cash bonus as shares start to vest. Then years 3 and 4 it is base and your RSU. Typically you move far out of the target band given share price appreciation.
You would be an L6.
If you were to enter as L6 product at Amazon, over the vesting period your TC would likely end up being higher.
Your base would not be higher though.
