Recently found a remote job that paid slightly over 50% more than my prior employer. You only miss 100% of the opportunities that you don’t intentionally seek.
A lot of jobs don’t pay true market value. I was in public accounting and their compensation bands were at least 3-4 levels below market. Thing is there’s a fair number of jobs doing the same, but you can find the outliers (gems) if you recruit and ask enough questions before interviewing. Other aspects are luck, negotiation, and not being desperate.

You'll never know until you start to look around yourself. It never hurts to talk to recruiters or take a few interviews, even if it's just for practice. Last year i found a new job with a 26% raise within a few weeks just by asking for the salary I wanted and being very upfront with recruiters about what I was looking for in terms of benefits and hours. But I did come as a senior associate in big 4 as a CPA.
This. People can give you sentiments but opps are very dependent on your own profile and geographical desires.
Just send CVs to some recruiters at different firms in the region you’re interested in and they can let you know
Just received an offer from a client to go in-house (tech sector). I worked my balls off on this engagement but would consider myself incredibly lucky for this opportunity.
To be fair, this would have never happened without Deloitte. Gotta give credit where it’s due.
In general the job market is not nearly what it was the past 2 years. Lots of RIFs and various efficiency initiatives in accounting firms and industry.

I found a job pretty easily before the new year. My last day in public was yesterday. But I also live in a HCOL which makes things easier somewhat.
I sort of got lucky as I had a recruiter I talked to last spring reached out in November with really a great opportunity. The rest was history.
Not in public but in the job market, there jobs but usually at a cost. Less pay, full time in office etc. I live in the NYC tri state area. Its still pretty weak in my opinion
