They're all probably bad
Definitely not SALT. Endless volume of state returns all come in at the last hour.
I've heard those financial service compliance engagements are really brutal. 100's of K-1s, dozen of partnership tiers, and everything comes in late. Bleh 😕
Definitely FED FS or SALT FS. Doesn't seem like SALT Core is ever busy 😂
Maybe you should try and find an area of tax that you enjoy, rather than picking a specialty group (that may or may not provide marketable experience) just based on work life balance.
OP, I'm in FED FS and it's not fun. We easily put in 75+ hours busy season but it also depends on the engagement you're on, I know some people who have a few weeks of 115 hours or some who never work more than 65
That's so funny bc SALT (we call it MTS) has the easiest schedule in our office lol
Either way chill out
I'm in transfer pricing and my hours are pretty cushy. Except during busy season (summer), but otherwise I get off anytime between 6-7.30 (7.30 being a relatively busy day). Of course it depends on the kind of projects you're on, and I'm a pretty efficient worker, but our hours are definitely better than audit.
Even SALT I think probably depend on which industry, and if consulting or compliance, if just AM returns then I think PwC1 is right.
that's true
I think the worst would be whatever one has exceptionally bad busy season over the summer. If there's none of those, then the ones that are busy year-round
Maybe they like 2 and want insight on which ones better? ^
