A) Job listing demands 5-10 years' experience beyond the experience actually required to do the job. But you don't know that and apply.

B) HR/recruiter/interviewer says 'your experience level makes this job a little too junior for you.'

I honestly believe a lot of job listings are just copied and pasted and they can be like a grab bag of skills no one person could possess. So I never know how seriously to take the requirements and figure it's best to apply if I've got most of what they're looking for. Your anecdote definitely backs up my theory, people post jobs and aren't really paying close attention to the requirements. And apparently the recruiters may not know or care what was in the listing. What a world.

Random, but valid/persistent thought.

After 2 years of a pandemic and working independently for many years, I am not feeling interviews AT ALL. There are points in the interview where I want to just say "Look! Either hire me or don't".

How can I get over this feeling? I'm over the whole "stand in the line of fire to prove how good I am" bs. Any recommendations for getting over this or possible industries to pivot into to avoid bs interview processes and ghosting?

Are there any online courses or resources that can help expand my knowledge of TV copyright information and anything more on the legal side of things? My internal video team is heavily leaned on for that type of info and do know a fair amount but I'd like to be more prepared all around. Google/tapping Producer friends is only relatively helpful.

We do have a lawyer that we can meet with but they're also not an expert and turnarounds are always very long so not as helpful as I'd hoped.

I just got engaged on Sunday (!!) and my ring is just a little big. I’m reading online that most jewelers won’t resize a rose gold ring. Has anyone had any issues with this? I could go back to the family jeweler who designed the ring and would do it for free but the ring was designed in Michigan and I live in Chicago. Is it worth it to drive to Michigan to get it taken care of there?

Career advice?

I'm a relatively junior data engineer (2yoe), the only other engineer (senior) that trained me left about a 6 months ago and I negotiated a nice raise for the extra responsibilities.

My performance reviews have been stellar, but my manager is starting to look to hire a senior to help me deliver projects as we do lack capacity right now.

I feel like I might be missing an opportunity to ask for a promotion and hire a junior instead.

Any opinions/tips?

Asking advice from a recruiter: I’ve been recently laid off :( This week I took some time to reflect, talk to friends and family. I want to be more thoughtful on my next move and although interviewing right away would be logical I feel I want to take a break and some time for myself. Take a month or two off working and use that time to plan thoughtfully on my next move. Would having that gap in my resume be an issue when I go back to the job market?

I got a call from the Google recruiter about my L7 em interview Google She said I did overwhelmingly good on all interviews except one had mixed feedback on a system design. No surprise because it was not a good interview. The recruiter said i had a choice to go to hiring committee, give referrals they could call about my system design or take another system design interview. I’m not confident about the system design because of the bad experience I had with the previous interviewer. What should I do?
