Not being allowed to touch is weird behavior from them and says a lot more about them than you. Recognize each other and stick together. I’ve been in a lot of places where cliques are awful.
That's pathetic. Nurses are usually thoughtful people and recognize that we are a team - we win or lose as a team and lab techs on the floor are absolutely a crucial part of the patient's experience.
Some years ago I had an idiosyncratic reaction to a single dose of methotrexate given for my inflammatory arthritis and found myself in the hospital in acute renal failure.
To some extent, the phlebotomist in the morning was the person who skill was most critical/important to me, being stuck at least once and often twice a day.
That pic line is tough to clean! CLABSI beware!!
That used to drive me nuts when I was a practicing lab tech. for example, a pair of drug reps would come and cook a nice breakfast for the nurses. We got free smells of waffles from down the hall while we just kept doing morning draws. One on one the nurses were fine, but as a group there was a definite feeling of superiority. I don't have an answer for you, but you're not alone. Make sure you do something special for yourselves for Lab Week next month!

In a hospital setting, there are many, many people who contribute to the care of each patient. So when someone sends a gift basket, it would be hard for every single person to partake. I feel your frustration, but I'm not sure how to remedy it. You have to try to find satisfaction in other ways.
I don’t know if you saw this in the original post, but the person said he/she “wasn’t allowed” to touch it. That implied to me that someone said they could not have any of what was in the gift basket. If that’s the case, that’s disgraceful.
iMO, shame on those folks for their elitist attitude! Myself and the team of doctors and nurses I work with always include everybody in any gifts we get: lab techs, housekeeping staff, patient care techs, secretaries, Members of the security, team, etc., etc. Everybody is part of the team!
I worked as a school librarian and saw the teachers get gifts on every holiday and teacher appreciation day. The other staff, even the Principal, got nothing. As another commenter said, you really do have to find satisfaction in other things.
Admin Asst week coming up
I got driver of the month . Haven’t called out in 6 months and went to an award ceramony and a gift bag. I got candy, a cup and a pen and a card LOL. Meanwhile we get 150 call outs per month
I think that’s mean, patient care is all a part of a collaborative team and all should be recognized. When we get gifts, especially food, we include lab techs, social worker, dietitians, everyone.

Advocating for inclusive appreciation practices or team wide recognition events can help highlight everyone’s contribution.
As a nurse I always offered these gifts/treats to every member of the healthcare team. Forbidden to
Touch it is ridiculous!
So sad and yall do a lot of work as well!!! They should appreciate you also.
Good Bosses, and places would share. Without you all nothing would be possible.
Bring it up to your HR rep if you feel comfortable, as in advocate for your team and say they are usually left out and it would help morale if all groups were remembered as part of the team...they should be able to then bring it up in their management team meetings. I would think that with the staffing shortages I hear about, they might be helpful. Really surprised that such educated people would treat others like this, but then there is emotional intelligence vs. intelligence.
